The ME-50 acts as a zone amplifier that operates separately from the stereo's normal volume. This, they say, is due to the MRD60's ability to send a fixed-level signal that is independent of other speakers on the boat.
A remote, easy to install, waterproof volume control with 10ft of cable is also supplied to control only those speakers that are connected to the amplifier. If speakers are needed in a forward berth as well as an additional zone on the rear deck, multiple amplifiers can be connected to a single stereo.
The company says the ME50 is a true marine product and not a car audio amplifier with a make-over. It delivers a true 25watts RMS per channel and is capable of powering up to four additional speakers. The unit operates over a range of 10-16VDC while only drawing a battery-friendly 10ma at idle. It weighs 6.75kg and measures 105 mm long x 38 mm wide x 120 mm high.
