Little loos from Vetus
01 Mar 2004
Manufactured in brilliant white porcelain with white polyester easy-clean seat and covers, these new toilets provide, says Vetus, a more comfortable and convenient replacement of the more traditional hand pumped variety of sea toilet.
Vetus says the combination of smart design and competitive pricing will encourage owners to upgrade and replace their current toilet.
Model SMTO is the smallest model at 350mm high X 420mm deep X 360mm wide and is a development of the larger models from Vetus. The SMTO loses only 30mm in seat width from the larger models and is fitted with a 96mm diameter cutter compared to the 110mm cutters used in the other Vetus models.
It uses a 250 watt macerator pump, which offers ample power to expel water and waste to a black water tank.
The recommended outlet pipe is Vetus's standard 25mm ID slimline.
Model HATO is a standard Vetus toilet customised with an adjustable backing plate for mounting onto a side wall or bulkhead. It comes complete with a 110mm diameter cutter and 400 watt macerator pump.
Both models have sufficient pump capacity to allow positioning up to 2.5metres below the waste water tank, which Vetus says should cater for use in all but the largest multi deck vessels.
Power and water savings are made through a dual flush facility on both models: The smaller model SMTO uses 0.5litre of water in an economy flush and 1.5 litres for a normal flush.
The larger wall mounted HATO uses 1.2litres of water during its economy flush and 2.8litres for its normal flush.
The flushing action takes six seconds and is quiet and unobtrusive in use. Water can be drawn from the main fresh water tank or seawater can be used with the aid of a separate pump.
Both models are available as either 12volt or 24volt versions as standard and a 110 or 230volt AC version is available to special order.
