Oyster owners help raise £40k

Last year Hannah and her crew set their sights on winning selection to represent Great Britain in the Sonar class at the 2004 Paralympics. Hannah, who has no right forearm, is sailing with John Robertson who is paralysed from the waist down, and Stephen Thomas who has no legs.

Hannah and her crew overcame stiff competition - including beating former Paralympic Gold Medallist Andy Cassel - to become Britain's official Paralympic nomination in the Sonar class.

But success comes at a price and Hannah and crew needed to find at least £40,000 over and above funding provided by the British Paralympic Association and the RYA.

At Oyster's annual London Boat Show party, this year also celebrating Oyster's 30th anniversary, Matthews challenged 250 guests to raise £20,000, which he promised would then be matched by Oyster.

Faced with such a worthy cause, the Oyster owners promised the £20k and Matthews promptly doubled the money.

"We are proud to continue our ongoing support for Hannah and wish her and the crew every success in winning a medal at the 2004 Paralympics in Athens, " said Matthews.
