Progress on Personal Watercraft Club

A unique alliance between the Royal Tay Yacht Club, and Tayjet Personal Watercraft Club will see the PWC club become an affiliate of the senior club, which was established in 1885, writes Mike Balmforth .

This could be the start of a much needed integration programme between PWC users and their various activities and the rest of the boating community.

The mutual benefits of the arrangement, which is possibly the first of its kind in Britain, include a fixed shore base, slipways, safety boats and a social centre for the PWC club, and on the other hand extra revenues and assistance with running events for the yacht club.

RTYC is a RYA Training Centre and the new liaison will enable it to add Safety Boat, Powerboat Level 2 and PWC competency to its existing portfolio of courses. In addition, Tayjet is investigating the use of a PWC as a fast response rescue and safety vessel, which may be a new and useful development for all water users.
