DIY in-boom reefing from Jeckells

They say the Mainmate IBR uses a proven design concept to offer an easy to handle, affordable package that will, initially, be suitable for yachts up to 38ft with a maximum boom of 4m.
Jeckells says Mainmate IBR offers a more aerodynamic alternative to in-mast reefing and the increased roach results in a greater sail area and better performance at both full and reduced sail, moving the centre of gravity to a much lower point upon the boat.
The fore and aft bearings that support the mandrel are plain and manufactured from lube-free Nylatron running on stainless steel shafts. Reefing is via a continuous line system narrow enough to fit into the forward end casting.
A proprietary spring-loaded rigid vang is used for boom support and the vertical mast luff track is from extruded UPVC section. The gooseneck bracket should fit any mast profile.
Jeckells offer the Mainmate IBR separately or as a package with a performance cruising spec fully battened mainsail.
Fitting is also an option although Jeckells say a reasonably competent DIY enthusiast can do the job. The MIBR system comes complete with a 12 month guarantee.
