YachtParts goes interactive on Web

YachtParts, the chandlery at Queen Anne's Battery in Plymouth, went interactive last month, pioneering a new WebShop created by Salcombe, Devon, based Kudos Software and Scotland based web developers Vizibility.

Andy Salamonson, who's been in the business over 20 years, has always provided a mail order service and catalogue for his customers, but says he's now bringing the whole operation into the 21st Century with his own, content managed, WebShop.

Salomon says the WebShop will streamline his service and make it easier for more customers to access his merchandise. There will be a price saving on goods bought via the WebShop and access is 24/7, which suits busy people and different time zones, and the site will soon offer French, German and Spanish languages.

According to Salomon, he had to give up his previous web facility because there was always the problem updating the site, with up to 30,000 stocklines and having to rely on the web developer.

The new Kudos and Vizibility-developed site can be operated from the PC in the shop and most of the work is done already as the stock on the WebShop is automatically updated from the shop's stock control system on the computer. YachtParts staff can add information, such as pictures or some extra description of the article.
