The seminar will be chaired by James Grazebrook, managing director of Halyard (M & I) Ltd, which lead the project. Further technical contributions will be made by John Dixon of the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research, University of Southampton; Nik Parker, Technical Director of the British Marine Federation (BMF) and Ken Wittamore, SoundBoat project manager The programme is as follows:
1. Introduction by James Grazebrook 2. Nik Parker - Sound measurement requirements of the amended Recreational Craft Directive 2003/44/EC 3. Ken Wittamore with an overview of the SoundBoat project 4. John Dixon on the technical results of the project 5. Nik Parker and Ken Wittamore on current practical options for boat builders to demonstrate compliance:
Power displacement ratio and Froude number; Pass by testing to ISO 14509 part I: Fixed platform; Anchored boat; SoundBuoy (free floating "listening" buoy) 6. Nik Parker on future methods 7. James Grazebrook will chair discussion and questions The seminar will take place on November 16, Room M from 15.00 to 17.00.
