Splash Camp kids are all right

The British Marine Federation's (BMF) Splash Camp television series is now complete and awaits a firm date for screening next year, writes Peter Nash.

According to director Jeremy Hibbard, it could air in March April or May, depending on the scheduling.

BBwent down to see the series being filmed and can tell you the kids are allright. They slept in little dormitories in bunk beds and were responsible for keeping everything neat and tidy. The girls certainly won that event.

As you'd expect from a bunch of 11 and 12 year olds, much of the talk was about how they did/didn't like the other boys/girls.

Tino (short for Valentino;

and Rossi is his hero) told me how the girls had beaten him up. "They trashed our hut, " he told me, "so we went and trashed their hut, but they all started crying and then they ganged up on me and beat me up."

The children showed a surprising grasp of how the world might work for them in the future. Rubie ("please get the spelling right") assured me with complete self-confidence that she would be an actress, while Mena blushed only slightly when I asked if it was true he had threatened to sue the director over a rules mixup that saw the boys losing to the girls on one event.

They are a great bunch of kids who have made firm friendships during their time together: will those friendships last? Cue for another series, perhaps.

This will be a fun series to watch if half the stuff we saw avoids the cutting room floor.
