C&N needs new yard to handle export orders

Plans to break into the US market and open a new shipyard have been announced by Gosport boatbuilders Camper & Nicholsons, writes Iain Sutherland.

The company has signed agreements to sell its new range of Endeavour motorboats overseas - and hopes to make up to 30 boats a year. It has already delivered its first £500,000 Endeavour 42ft powerboat and two more are nearing completion.

The company has signed dealers in the US, Monte Carlo, Italy and France - which should lead to five more orders for dealer boats.

The firm will also be making 38ft and 52ft versions of the Endeavour.

Managing director Giorgio Bendoni said Camper & Nicholsons was looking for a new base to complement its current yard in Mumby Road, Gosport, to help make the vessels.
