Clyde River Boatyard threat

The latest news in the CRB eviction and redevelopment saga is that Park Lane Developments, which wants to replace two boatyards with luxury flats, has been granted planning consent by Renfrewshire Council, writes Mike Balmforth.

A condition of the consent is that the company investigates incorporating a working boatyard in the development.

It can be assumed that Park Lane will make every effort to avoid that scenario, and its best way is to get the boatyard tenants evicted, to which end a court hearing is scheduled for early November. As the yards have only short term leases, the outcome is unlikely to be favourable to the boating businesses.

Meanwhile it is "business as usual", with winter storage boats filling the yard.
