Aqua Marine's maintenance-free Squadron

Aqua Marine says some boats with manual start engines may only need a single domestic battery, while others may need a starting battery with separate system for domestic supply.

Larger boats will require separate batteries for an electric windlass, winches or even an inverter, they say.

The comprehensive Squadron battery range includes: SFL (sealed for life) - sealed, flooded lead acid batteries that never need topping up and can last twice as long as a conventional battery.

AGM (absorbed glass mat) are sealed lead acid batteries giving high starting performance and deep cycling capability. They last three times as long as a conventional battery.

GEL - similar to AGM except that an immobilised electrolyte is used. The thicker plates are also more tolerant to deep cycling.

Lasts four times as long as a conventional battery.

Aqua Marine says being maintenance free all the above are ideally suited for marine use.

Amp/hour ratings cover from 85AH to 260AH and have ISO 9002 accreditation. Maxi-mum MCA (marine cranking amps) rating is 600A for the 85AH SFL battery (shown here) and up to 1800A for the largest AGM battery.
