Wireless technology brings interactive security

Security and vessel management solutions are often retrofitted which can involve extensive modifications to the vessel.

But Birmingham based Nordic Solutions says it has developed a wire-free solution with its SmartBox. They say the system not only allows for easier installation but also delivers a fully interactive security system.

Utilising the very latest wireless WAP and SMS technology, developed with the support of Nokia and Sony Ericsson, the SmartBox system allows users to receive reports, remotely monitor various operations and view the status of the system remotely via GSM equipped telephones, e-mail, internet, computer or any other messaging means.

And utilising the same GSM technology, the SmartBox system can be fully customised to allow for a range of individual vessel management applications, such as remote lighting and heating control, down to individual logs of the vessel's fridge/freezer temperature. All can be accessible and controllable from afar, 24 hours a day 365 days a year.

The development of this system has enabled us to offer a product that can track, monitor and manage almost any task, managing director David Price told us. The versatility of the platform allows for each system to be tailored to specific applications for individual clients, whilst the wire free system allows for a quick and hassle free installation.

Price also told BB that he was looking for a partner to help develop the SmartBox system further.
