Double gold medallist Ben Ainslie collected his OBE at Buckingham Palace last month. "It's a huge honour, " he told the BBC. "It's not only for me but it is really nice for the people who have helped me."
He now heads back to New Zealand to carry on with his America's Cup work with Team New Zealand, but told the Beeb he intends to remain in Finn sailing and try to qualify for the Beijing Olympics in 2008, before targeting a fifth games in 2012.
Ainslie OBE has also just agreed to become the first Patron of the John Merricks Sailing Trust - the charity of choice for the Marine Industry Regatta.
"John would not have achieved all that he did without financial help from others, " said Ainslie, "and the John Merricks Sailing Trust does a great job at helping those that need it."
