Cheetah Marine expanding

Cheetah Marine, builders of powered catamarans and managers of Ventnor Haven on the south of the Isle of Wight, have been defending their scheme for adding a boatbuilding and boat service and repair shop, writes Iain Sutherland.

A harbour office, harbourmaster's accommodation and chandlery are also planned.

Cheetah Marine partner Sean Strevens said all environmental issues such as noise and fumes would be well within government guidelines.

"Our catamarans are advanced designs and we need an equally well designed production facility with marine access, " he said.

Entirely separate from the Cheetah Marine development, more boats will be able to moor at Ventnor Haven following successful bid for £160,000 of funding to enable the second phase of improvements to be carried out.
