Essex Boatyards buys marina

Essex Boatyards has announced its proposed acquisition of Essex Marina. "The acquisition will enable us to offer a much larger range of new and used boats and provide increased and improved services for customers, " said Essex Boatyards' managing director, James Barke.

Essex Marina at Wallasea Island on the River Crouch in Essex offers 500 deep-water pontoon berths including 50 swinging moorings as well as a slipway capable of accommodating vessels up to 100 tons.

The 12 acre site also has a new 70 ton hoist with a 7.16m beam as well as storage facilities and a range of amenities for boat owners and visitors alike.

Essex Boatyards anticipates completion of the acquisition by December 2005 and until this date will continue to be based mainly at its Paglesham site.

"These are exciting times for Essex Boatyards, " said Barke.
