Finance Wales helps marina expand

Holyhead Marina has secured a £150,000 funding package from Finance Wales to help expand its berthing capacity by some 30%. The company plans to increase its total capacity to 500 berths.

Funding for the expansion is being provided by Finance Wales, the organisation created by the Welsh Assembly Government to provide investment and loan funding to Welsh SMEs.

"Holyhead Marina is already an excellent facility which has developed significantly over the last three seasons, " said Dave Haycocks, investment executive for Finance Wales.

"The directors have now identified expansion plans to drive the business forward in what has become an extremely lucrative market."

Plans include a new marina village with 26 luxury apartments, commercial lettings, the marina reception, a chandlery, a yacht brokerage company and other new facilities.
