Four combine for safety

Four leading Safety at Sea organisations have joined forces to encourage South Coast sailors to be more aware of their responsibilities to themselves and their fellow recreational boaters.

Ocean Safety Ltd, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA), the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) and the RYA have all combined forces under the slogan "Working together to promote safety at sea".

As part of the programme Ocean Safety has supplied 162,000 one-pint glasses and 100,000 half-pint glasses to the Cowes Yacht Haven beer tent (that should see them through the first Saturday evening - Ed).

The glasses display the logos of the supporting organisations and companies and invite drinkers to visit www.oceansafety.com and enter a free prize draw to win a safety package for their boat worth up to £3,000.

The glasses have already been seen by thousands of sailors at the Round the Island Race and the Trafalgar Day Celebrations and will reach many more attending Skandia Cowes Week, the Beneteau Cup and other prominent regattas this summer.

Hansson PyroTech, Jon Buoy, Garmin, Aqua Spec and MOBilert have all contributed to ensure that the message is broadcast as widely as possible.
