Hamble Yacht Services sold to Ancasta
01 Dec 2005
HYS offers a wide range of boatyard services from full engineering to fully approved spray shops. Including its licence at Universal marina, HYS has the capacity to store ashore 500 yachts and the capacity to lift sail and power boats up to 80 tons.
"HYS is a wonderful asset to acquire. With demand for water side services and storage outstripping supply, having the ability to store and service over 500 boats at any one time on the Hamble River made this very attractive for us, " said Nick Griffith, managing director of Buybranch. "Its services complement our interest in Ancasta, so it was a natural fit for us."
Our intentions are to continue to run the business as it is today, he added. Apart from the current MD who is retiring, all HYS's current staff are being retained.
The longer term plan is to invest both time and resource to develop and improve the service provided to HYS's customers.
HYS was advised in the sale by Grant Thornton's Solent office and ex-managing director Dick Saint has now retired. The sale price was undisclosed, but is reputed to have been £7.3m.
