Lewmar hosts improvement seminar

The layouts in both areas underwent dramatic changes and have resulted in some excellent improvement benefits.
The new production cells now use less floor space, have quicker set up and cycle times and incorporate line side stock location, which will support future plans for Kanban implementation.
Results include a 60% improvement in space utilisation, an 80% reduction in cycle time, a 90% reduction in set up time, a 40% reduction in lead time and a 90% reduction in distance walked.
Team Leader, Paul Millett, says: "Lean has made a big improvement. Everyone can see the benefits it has made for the workforce and the company. We have already begun to apply it in other areas of the factory."
