North Sails golf day raises £15k

The 9th North Sails Golf Day in aid of the John Merricks Sailing Trust (JMST) raised a record £15,520 from the 96 golfers taking part at Cams Hall, Fareham. The annual event has now raised over £80,000 for the JMST.

The day was won by sixhandicapper Hugo Ambrose, who shot an astonishing 42 Stableford points.
Among the stars who turned out for the charity day were Olympic medallists Ben Ainslie, Iain Percy, Steve Mitchell, Sarah Ayton, Sarah Webb, Ian Walker and Ossie Stewart.
The day was brightened by the generosity of Richard Matthews, chairman of Oyster Marine who, on discovering one hole was called Oystercatcher, promptly offered £1,000 to the charity for every birdie scored that day and cheerfully wrote out a cheque for £7,000.
