Happiness is skippered char tering

Douglas and Mary Lindsay have been successfully running their skippered charter operation for 25 years, first with a concrete ketch, and for the last 15 years with a superb Dutch built and locally finished steel ketch, writes Mike Balmforth.

Both vessels have been called Corryvreckan, as has the business, which although specialising in Hebridean charter, has also included two Atlantic circuits for winter Caribbean work.

Corryvreckan, however, is more than just another skippered charter operation.

The Lindsays are always on board through their five month season, offering a unique combination of his detailed knowledge of the west coast and her renowned cooking.

Maybe it is because they enjoy what they do so much (who wouldn't) that their fame as genial hosts has spread far and wide, and they have a level of repeat business that is the envy of many more conventional businesses.
