Media and entertainment from Digital Yacht

Digital Yacht, has added a media and entertainment PC to its line-up. The AquaMedia 100 is based around the company's existing ruggedised PC technology but uses Microsoft's latest MediaCenter operating system to provide an enhanced audio and visual experience when watching TV, playing CDs or DVDs and recording live TV.

The AquaMedia 100 incorporates a multi-standard TV tuner for direct connection to a boat's TV antenna system. Live TV can be viewed, an electronic programme guide downloaded via an Internet connection and TV recorded directly to the PC's hard disk.

CDs can also be stored on the PC's hard drive, with the user able to make up a play list or shuffle songs. With a 160GB hard drive, the AquaMedia 100 has capacity for tens of thousands of CDs, pictures and media clips.

Microsoft's MediaCenter interface can be driven by the supplied remote control, so the user feels they are operating a simple home TV or Hi-Fi system. AquaMedia is also fully network-compatible, so music can be shared across cabins or throughout the boat through its built-in LAN and WI-FI network card.

The system can also play DVDs as well as record and save TV shows and photographs directly to CD or DVD. It also features a multi-function card reader so digital photographers can save photos direct to disk. A surround sound audio output is provided, although users may choose to connect this directly to the on board stereo.

For users without existing audio products, Digital Yacht offers a standalone speaker system based around a separate 200W amplifier and speakers.

AquaMedia 100 systems can be supplied with 15", 17", 19" 21" and 42" displays and are capable of driving up to two monitors. Any existing flat screen TVs can also be used as a monitor for the system.

System prices start from £1199, including VAT.
