Anti-foul mimics the skin of fish

The Superspeed coatings division of Polymarine is introducing Superspeed SP53, an anti-foul paint designed to mimic the skin of fish.

The coating catalytically develops a smooth and slippery microfilm that discards marine growth when the boat moves through the water.

Low friction, low toxic SP53 is being packaged by Polymarine as a complete kit, with all the items needed to apply the coating, including disposable brushes, gloves, overalls, dust mask and paint stirrer, together with a choice of container sizes, for up to either 20 or 40 metres of hull coverage. The anti-foul can also be bought separately.

New to Europe, Polymarine says SP53 has been tested thoroughly in the United States where users have reported improved boat speed through the water and fuel savings.

They say it works on all types of hull.
