MGDUFF ZINGARD protects steel yacht

MGDUFF says its new coldapplied zinc application ZINGARD has been chosen as the primary corrosion protection for La Cautiva, a 74ft steel ketch presently undergoing a complete rebuild.

The extensive restoration included replacement of large areas of hull and deck plating and her owners were keen to protect against corrosion damage, the cause of much of her earlier deterioration.

Duff says ZINGARD is a 96% pure zinc layer which electrochemically bonds to the blast prepared steel, in effect creating a liquid anode.

This forms a passive barrier at the steel surface that resists corrosion above and below the waterline, and will provide local cathodic protection to steelwork exposed by mechanical damage.

Our picture shows the boat halfway through her ZINGUARD application.
