New narrowboat production is booming at around 750 boats a year - enough to fill three new large marinas. But their construction south of the Trent & Mersey Canal is down to a trickle, and existing marinas are full. Tim Coghlan, proprietor of Braunston Marina and vice chairman of The Yacht Harbour Association, offers his personal views on the growing crisis for boaters, boatbuilders and British Waterways alike
