Your Letters

Dear Sir, "Marine Trade Show on hold" and you have invited comments. My business has been involved in the supply of glassfibre materials to chandlers for some 20 years. Your article states (para. 3) - "Currently targeted at the retail sector, it seems impossible for the organisers to get retailers to visit the show, and play a part in the development of the industry they rely upon so heavily for their livelihood." Naughty naughty retailers.

My personal view is that many of the "executives" i/c the presentation and representation of the marine industry in the UK, whilst undoubtedly being very nice chaps, fail to listen to themselves, let alone the industry.

The reason of course may be very simply that there are fewer manufacturers and distributors, this you will know better that I.

Though we are from the north and we appreciate the bulk of the business is on the south coast, the distance to travel when in London is not a problem in itself, so long as the end result is worth our time.

However I have heard that METS could become the only alternative, in this case the venue and distances would be totally out of the question for the average small business.
