She will co-ordinate all RYA Scotland's work, manage RYAS staff and work closely with the elected officers and committees.

Agnes comes from a business background, having recently worked as a project director encouraging the growth of small businesses. A keen cruising yachtswoman, she has sailed extensively in Scottish waters, including to the Hebrides and the Orkneys, and before taking to the sea, she learned to sail inland at Strathclyde Loch, and then followed the RYA training route from Day Skipper to Yachtmaster Offshore.

Her post is on a three days per week basis, and she will be contactable at the RYA office in Edinburgh (0131 317 7388) every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Barclay told Boating Business: "Scotland is a great place for all types of boating, and I am looking forward to building on the efforts of all the many volunteers and professionals who make it so. Implementing the recently completed development plan and increasing the profile of RYA Scotland are immediate priorities."
