Tarbert appoints new harbourmaster
01 Jan 2005
Peter Bates' background as a seagoing deck officer, Humber pilot and most recently Immingham dock master, makes him just slightly over qualified for the job.
Landing the position at the Loch Fyne haven fulfils his ambition to work in a smaller port with more diverse operations and a definite challenge.
While already a busy leisure port, Tarbert has a great deal of undeveloped potential as fishing traffic dwindles and leisure use increases, meaning he has come to the right place.
One of his first tasks will be to organise additional pontoon berthing for the Swan 45 fleet, which will racing as a one design class at the Bell Lawrie Scottish Series in May.
