Onward Trading onward to Hamble
01 Jul 2005
"We 're growing at 10% a year, " said owner Martyn Jenkins, "and we needed a bigger trade showroom. And as our main business comes from the Port Solent, Hamble and Poole, Eastland Boat Yard gives us a focal point in the heart of the trade."
And it's half the price of Shamrock Quay, he added.
The company, which started out as a retail operation, now finds its business is 60% trade.
"We use C Quip as a distributor for our mouldings, " said Jenkins, "but we deal direct on everything else."
Among the customers for the company's teak furniture are the Big Four powerboat builders - Sunseeker, Princess, Fairline and Sealine. "Our business is now 60% teak furniture. It's made in Thailand and comes in through Holland.
We can easily do 1,000 director's chairs a year, " said Jenkins.
