In a statement on Ronstan's website, Tim Melville, Ronstan's general manager, sales, says: "We have recently identified a few isolated cases of poor welding and in some cases no welding of the universal head posts of our Series 60 & 75 All Purpose Stainless Steeled Cheeked blocks. We have urgently investigated this matter and held extensive discussions about this defective workmanship with the sub-contractor who was responsible for welding the head posts on these products. Based on these discussions, we have determined that: the time period in which these potentially faulty products may have been produced and sold is between 29th October 2004 and 12 of May 2005 and use of any defective product may result in the product failing to comply with its designated load tolerance and that use of a defective product may cause personal injury, fatality and/or damage to property.

Accordingly, we have decided to conduct an urgent product recall of Series 60 and 75 All Purpose Stainless Steeled Cheeked blocks with a universal head post, shipped during this period. The affected products are; Series 60 - RF856, RF857, RF866, RF867, RF868, RF868AW, RF869, RF870, RF875, RF876, RF1156, RF1158, RF1159, RF1160, 0010004 Series 75 - RF1082, RF1088, RF1088AW, RF1089, RF1096, RF1097, 0210098, 0210100, 0301030, 9505070.

Please stop selling and distributing the above products immediately. These products are being recalled at the expense of Ronstan.

If you have on-sold and are no longer in possession of any these products, please immediately tell us: 1. The customer to whom it has been sold, the customer contact details, the product and invoice number; or 2. If you do not know the identity of the customer to whom you sold any of these products, then whether there is any means through which Ronstan could locate your customer to enable Ronstan to arrange a recall and replacement of these products.

We are required by law to maintain an accurate record of all products sold within this period. We therefore request your assistance in managing this recall by completing the required information and returning it to Ronstan as a matter of urgency, before 10th June 2005.

Please see the attached product safety recall notice. We request that you display the attached notice in a prominent position in your office/retail store in order to alert any possible past consumer of these products to the issue.
