Green light for Bugbrooke marina

According to a report in the Daventry Express , an 80 berth marina between Nether Heyford and Bugbrooke has been given the go ahead by South Northants Council's planning department.

The marina will provide much-needed mooring facilities as well as a nature conservation area, footpath links to nearby villages and a boat repair facility.

Cllr John Townsend, council member for planning, told the Daventry Express : "Bugbrooke is an ideal site for the exciting new development. Not only is it surrounded by beautiful countryside but there are a number of cruising routes for water traffic.

"Waiting lists for moorings in this area are either full or are very long so this mooring site should help more people be able to enjoy this wonderful corner of the district."

The plans for the marina were put forward by British Waterways in order to encourage development of the popular inland boating area near Bugbrooke.
