Warsash planners reject jetty extensions
01 Oct 2005
Planning chiefs have thrown out proposals by Warsash Marine, Warsash, to extend its jetties further out into the River Hamble, writes Iain Sutherland .
More than 100 letters of objection were sent to Fareham council about the plans.
The 1,600-member Warsash Sailing Club, which uses jetties just downriver of the marina, feared the expansion would force its members out into much busier, faster, water.
Marina bosses argued that the extension was desperately needed to safeguard the future of the 53-berth marina in Stone Pier Yard, but councillors threw out the plans on the grounds it affected navigation.
