Tracy Edwards handed a lifeline?

Tracy Edwards MBE, who has been fighting constant high profile legal battles to clear her name after the debacle of her Oryx Quest 2005 yacht race left with £2.6m of debts, seems to have won a substantial victory.

Her most recent legal battle in the Civil Court of Qatar saw Edwards cleared of financial responsibility following the compulsory liquidation at the end of 2005 of her company Quest International Sports Events Ltd, which ran the Oryx race

The decision leaves Edwards free to pursue a personal injury claim against the Qatari Government in the International Court of Justice at The Hague.

Edwards astounded the world when she landed a £38m sponsorship deal with Qatar Sports International (QSI) to promote the image of the Gulf State. But the deal fell through when QSI was dissolved at the beginning of 2005, leaving Edwards with a seven-figure debt that saw her go bankrupt and lose her home.

It seems her fortunes are now changing and we are promised a book and a television documentary on the entire sorry episode in 2007.

Ms Edwards has been through the mill since her ground-breaking £38m deal was announced and it's nice to see something good happening to her at last
