Smashing grab bag
01 Dec 2006
McMurdo’s new Grab Bag XL can be packed with all the most vital equipment to assist survival while waiting to be rescued: it’s shown here with an EPIRB tucked in its special pocket.
The brightly coloured “emergency yellow” Grab Bag XL is ruggedly constructed and contains a number of carefully designed sections for various items of equipment including a flares storage section, and a netted pocket for documentation.
Padded walls provide basic flotation, and the Grab Bag zips up with a Velcro sealed water deflecting flap. Other compartments include an end pocket for a personal location beacon like the McMurdo Fastfind PLB, so that it can be activated quickly when necessary.
The grab bag should be packed with flares, an EPIRB and PLB, first aid kit, fresh water, survival blanket, torch and other survival items. With time to only take one item off the boat - in the event of a collision or sinking - all the most vital equipment is to hand.
The McMurdo Grab Bag XL weighs 0.8Kg, measures 290(H) x 440 (L) x 200 (W) mm and retails at £29.38 including VAT.
