52nd London Boat Show closes 30k under target

The official target for the 52nd London Boat Show was 170,000. The event drew just 140,000 visitors which, after taking off the freebies, will see a gate of around 113,000 paying guests.

The final show press release from organisers National Boat Shows (NBS) said: "The tube strike and confidence in London as a destination following 7/7 had impacted on attendance early on although numbers improved later on in the week with some days showing a marked improvement on the previous year."

Brian Peters, chairman of NBS explained that general public attendance had improved significantly although trade attendance had declined slightly - by some 15,000 over the 2004 show.
