Scott Deverell 1969-2005

Scott Deverell died peacefully in his sleep at home with his family on December 12, 2005 after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

He went to Southampton Institute of Higher Education in 1988 to do the "famous" sandwich course in Yacht and Boatyard Management, which is where he started to become a recognised face in the industry.

A variety of weekend jobs culminated in a long period of part-time work at Quay Marine on the Hamble. It was during a college placement that he first went to work at Hartford Marina in the summer of 1990.

When the marina manager position at Hartford Marina became available in 1992 he jumped at the chance and went on to become an integral part of river and industry life both with the marina and also on various committees with The Yacht Harbour Association, as the Inland Waterways representative, and also with the British Marine Federation.

In 2001 he was made the managing director at the marina and, under his direction, the marina continued to expand in all aspects - moorings, boat sales, workshop, chandlery and houseboats.

Deverell leaves behind his wife, Amanda, and children Sally and Theo, as well as a vast and varied group of friends from as far afield as Canada and USA and all points throughout the UK.

BB extends its sympathy to family and friends.
