TS and Watermota team up on Alfa engines

Southampton based TS Marine and Newton Abbott based Watermota are to team up to bring marinised Alfa Romeo diesel engines to the UK and Ireland.

According to TS Marine's Scott Sandford, TS will import the units and the distribution will be handled through the Watermota dealer network in a 50/50 partnership deal. Marinisation will be done in Caserta, Italy, by the CMD-owned FNM Marine Engines.

Three models will be brought in, the first being a 250hp unit used in the Alfa 166. "It's extremely light, " said Sandford, "and it's so quiet people will think it's a petrol engine."

It'll get a boat up onto the plane in a matter of seconds, he reckons.

A 250hp unit was shown on a Coastline RIB at the London Boat Show.

Our picture shows (l to r) FNM's Antonio Sgueglia, Watermota's Mike Beacham and Scott Sandford with an Alfa unit at the METS announcement last November.
