System monitor for GMDSS
01 Jul 2006
Their latest product, the RSM09A System Monitor, works with a standard battery charger to be used on vessels that require Global Marine Distress Systems.
Whether the application is a new build or a re-fit the RSM09A allows ship builders and engineers to meet all the latest SOLAS regulations with off-theshelf equipment, they say.
Essential communications systems require two sources of power, says Energy Solutions, firstly a battery charger and secondly an emergency battery back-up. The company says its RSM09A System Monitor is an essential part of this package as it is able to monitor the main source of power and indicate when the vessel is running on backup.
The System Monitor is a custom made battery and charging system monitor that links to a Victron battery charger (the 24/30 or 24/50 Skylla TG Charger). The unit allows remote monitoring of the Skylla TG charger.
Under normal operation it displays the battery voltage and charging current, together with float or boost charge status. In the event of a charger failure, it continues to monitor the battery. It gives audible and visual warnings of the charger failure, and again if the battery then discharges to the low battery voltage level.
