CJR picks up new Sunseeker Tri Deck Yacht

CJR Propulsion was founded in 1945 by Charles John Russell, following his experience finishing propellers for the Ministry of Defence during World War II. In the 1980's son John Russell opened the CJR foundry and commenced full scale propeller and sterngear production.

The company moved to Southampton in 1995, having taken over Power Propellers and has since witnessed a 150% growth in production.

The company's cruising and performance range caters for low powered motor cruisers and motor sailors to fast planing luxury motor yachts that require optimum performance and the com-mercial range caters for fishing boats, workboats and heavy displacement boats.

The custom range offers any combination of blades, area, skew - material will be used to create optimum propellers.

Finally, CJR stocks a large range of sterngear systems or offer a custom solution.

The majority of the company's products are supplied to UK boatbuilders, including Sunseeker and Princess. CJR's commitment to these boatbuilders led to the company being presented with the Sunseeker Supplier of the Year Best Newcomer Award in 2001. The company has since won an additional Supplier of the Year Award in 2005.

CJR is to design and manufacture the sterngear for Sunseeker's new 37m Tri Deck Yacht. The company will work closely with Sunseeker's project team to design all the stern gear, which includes the propeller, stern tube and Pbracket.

Using custom designed 3D modelling, CJR creates CAD designs of the equipment, enabling Sunseeker to be able to see how all the components fit into place prior to the first build. A key design criterion is that all the stern gear can be accessed and worked on independently, to reduce any refit or repair time when the Yacht is in use.
