Boat fire safety campaign

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service is inviting boat owners to take part in the first Fire Safety Boat Survey that it hopes will soon become a national project across the UK.

The main aim of the survey is to gather information on boat designs, the storage of equipment and what fire safety procedures, if any, there are in place on boats across the UK.

The information provided will establish an overview of boaters' lifestyles and will assist Fire and Rescue Services nationally to deliver their risk reduction initiatives.

Warwickshire boat owners are asked to complete an online survey at warwickshire. gov. uk/ fireandrescue All completed surveys will be entered into a prize draw to win a boat fire safety pack, consisting of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and fire extinguishers.

As well as filling in the questionnaire, owners can download a copy of the Fire Safety for Boats booklet, which contains some valuable advice to help reduce the risk of fire.

Warwickshire is currently the only Fire and Rescue Service offering free boat fire safety checks, but they have offered it to all UK Fire and Rescue Services as a national initiative in conjunction with the National Community Fire Safety Centre.

Owners outside Warwickshire should contact their local Fire and Rescue Service and ask for details.
