CE Proof launch online survey database

CE Proof, better known for its work on solving problems with the Recreational Craft Directive, has set up an online database of boat surveys at BoatStats. com They've used thousands of reports gathered from professional surveyors around the world and analysed the nonmaintenance defects relating to production boats, power and sail.

So the website contains reports on a huge number of production boats. Reports that highlight the defects a potential buyer should look out for. And reports that an owner can use to pinpoint his or her own maintenance schedules.

The reports are nonjudgemental: they contain only the facts as detailed by the surveyors. BoatStats takes the data and presents it in graph form. Or pie charts. Or tables:

you choose.

And boatbuilders should be very aware that BoatStats will publish a Top 10 of builders - sail and power - later this year.

"The boating public has been waiting a long time for an information source such as BoatStats, " said Alasdair Reay, a director of CE Proof International. "While test reports indicate how a boat sails, before BoatStats there was no information available to indicate which builder's boats were the most reliable.

No longer will users have to rely upon the yacht club rumours for this information."
