Ocean Safety's training

Ocean Safety held a Marine Safety Awareness Training Day in Glasgow recently to give the Scottish marine trade an update on the latest legislation and regulations and an opportunity to arm themselves with the latest marine safety products available.

Over 60 delegates attended and heard speakers ranging from the RYA's technical manager, Ken Kershaw, Michael Avril, divisional sea safety manager for Scotland and a lifeboat crew member, Lieutenant Mike Paulet and Petty Officer Daz Craig from HMS Gannet Search and Rescue flight, Constable John Romanes from the Marine Policing Unit of Strathclyde Police and Jon Brooks, marine manager at Icom UK.

To finish off the day, Duncan Macdonald from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency presented a session on Class XII and Code of Practice Codings and Mike Dixon, himself a Sea Safety volunteer for the RNLI, gave his first hand personal account of a real life rescue at sea "It's fantastic to see so many qualified experts in their professions coming together to offer the best advice and information on marine safety and security to such a wide audience, " said Ocean Safety MD, Charlie Mill.
