Windermere - after the ban Dear Sir, I cannot recall a more offensive and biased article in BB than that written by the aptly named Bilge Rat on the effects of the Windermere speedboat ban. His description of the majority who are happy with the ban shows his true colours.
If the "grey, mint guzzling, less physically active majority" actually produce "at least 84% of the National Park's income", their quiet enjoyment clearly forms a more important financial return than does that of the remaining 16% of noisy, polluting and, sometimes, highly inconsiderate speed boaters. I've suffered their oafish behaviour at sea, roaring by far too closely. It must be much worse on a lake, even one as large as Windermere.
