Boating Business caters for the leisure marine industry, with Maritime Journal handling the smaller end of the commercial marine world. The addition of Motor Ship takes the company's portfolio into the larger end of the commerical marine world.

The company’s other titles are Port Strategy , the new World Fishing and Engineering Capacity in the contract engineering sector. In addition to publishing B2B titles, Mercator also organises two exhibitions; Seawork and BBEx.

The Fareham-based publishing business has been operating since 1991, gradually building its portfolio to six B2B titles.

Mercator MD Andrew Webster worked with David Bushby and Steve George from RBS Invoice Finance to put together a £400,000 package to enable the business to acquire the additional titles.

‘The purchase of the new titles extends our range of publications significantly and we are now one of the UK’s leading producers of magazines specifically focused on the fishing, boating and marine sector,’ Webster told BB. ‘The RBS team was on hand to deliver a suitable financial package to enable me to take forward my acquisition of the new publications.’

‘Mercator Media has established a great reputation in its marketplace and the business is growing at an impressive rate,’ said Bushby. ‘I am pleased we have been able to deliver a financial package which has helped Andrew to achieve his business aspirations.’
