Yanmar: sailboat diesels lead the way

FINANCIALS: The second quarter of 2007 produced record sales for Yanmar Marine in the sailboat engines sector, with numbers driven up by demand from larger boat builders worldwide.

Mantel: ‘sailboat diesels have led the way in quantity sales’

Distributors also ordered highest-ever numbers of units, sail and power, for smaller yards and re-powering purposes.

‘This time around, sailboat diesels have led the way in quantity sales,’ said company president Geert Jan Mantel. ‘Activities have strengthened in the power market as well, with results as expected.’

We continue to be encouraged by what we see in the pleasure boat business, he added. Our roll-out of new power boat engines will continue and we have other products to be introduced shortly, so Yanmar Marine’s future looks strong.
