BW holding licence consultation meetings

INLAND WATERWAYS: Following pressure by the Inland Waterways Association (IWA) and other waterway users British Waterways (BW) has arranged to hold a series of regional consultation meetings concerning the proposed boat license fee increases, writes Harry Arnold.

The IWA says that its individual members and other interested parties now have a choice of attending and making sure that their voices are heard, or to passively accept BW's proposals without dispute or discussion.

It is urging everyone affected by the proposals attend their local meeting and demonstrate their strength of feeling on the matter through force of numbers.

The four meetings are being held at BW’s Watford headquarters, 14.00 to 17.00, Tuesday December 4 (BW contact Liz Horne 01923 201365); BW Fearns Wharf, Leeds, 17.00 to 20.00, Thursday December 13, (BW contact Linzi O’Neill 0113 281 6861); BW Harbour House, Gloucester Docks, 14.00 to 17.00, Friday December 14, (BW contact Suzanne Pensom 01452 318000) and BW Canal Lane, Hatton, 10.00 to 13.00, Sunday December 16, (BW contact Michelle Woodward 01926 626100).

BW has asked anyone intending to attend to book in advance with the appropriate contact. The IWA is currently pressing BW for a further meeting venue in the North West.
