EA offers non-tidal Thames winter licences

INLAND WATERWAYS: The Environment Agency (EA) is offering boaters a special two-day licence costing £10 to visit the non-tidal River Thames over this winter, writes Harry Arnold.

Starting on November 1 and available until February 29, 2008, boaters can come from the Thames Tideway at Teddington Lock and spend two days shopping in Kingston-on-Thames, visit Hampton Court or just enjoy the variety of bars and restaurants near the river at Molesey.

This offer is just for passage of Teddington Lock; those wishing to continue their journey upstream through Molesey Lock will have the £10 deducted from the price of a normal licence. Boaters wishing to arrive early or leave late can moor overnight at Teddington Lock for £5.50.

The licence is available for all boats except passenger boats, tugs or visiting houseboats and can be purchased at Teddington Lock.
