Landamores moves into new premises

COMPANY MOVE: Landamores, which produces boats for Ipswich-based Oyster Marine, has ended its 10-year search for new premises by moving into a 35,000 sq ft boatbuilding workshop, writes Debbie Cowan.

The new facility, which had to be within 15 miles of its Hoveton site so the company could keep its workforce, is in Tunstead Road, a short distance from the original site.

'The new factory was developed to Landamores' specifications and features seven building bays that will take yachts up to 85ft long and also houses a CNC woodworking facility,' said managing director Anthony Landamore.

Oyster Marine had been looking to expand production for some time but Landamores was constrained by the size of its factory in Marsh Road. The move, together with improvements from lean manufacturing techniques, will enable production to be increased by up to 50% and create about 20 jobs.

Founded in 1923 by Ted Landamore, grandfather of current managing director Anthony Landamore, the company moved to the Marsh Road site in 1928.
