METS 2007 – another great show

METS: The 2007 edition of METS closed its doors last Thursday on a show that had 1,137 exhibitors from 39 countries and brought in 19,764 visitors. The organisers, Amsterdam RAI, say the 2007 show strengthened its position as the world's number one marine leisure trade show.

The 2007 exhibitor total was up over the 2006 show, which saw 1,101 exhibitors from 39 different countries. The 2007 visitor total was comfortably up on the 2006 show, which saw 16,805 visitors.

Irene Dros, METS product manager, described the show as fantastic: 'It was our 20th anniversary event and the show was buzzing,' she said. 'I am delighted that the quantity and quality of the visitors has beaten even our best previous events. Roll METS 2008.'

In comparison with previous years, the UK didn't feature as well in this year's DAME Awards. We managed one win in the Marine Electronics category with Yacht Secure Ltd, the Alton-based division of Maritime and Underwater Security Consultants which specialises in superyacht and maritime security.

UK companies also took home three special mentions - Sea Sure collected a special mention for its 420 Genesis rudder stock, Gill received one for its Compressor buoyancy aid and Henri-Lloyd took one for its Atmosphere jacket.

The overall DAME Award was won by Italian company Opacmare S.p.A. for its Teaky Beach stern platform chaise longue shown here.
