NBS in Motor Show collaboration

MOTOR SHOW: National Boat Shows (NBS) is to run an event in conjunction with the British International Motor Show (BIMS) at ExCeL in 2008. NBS will capitalise on the presence of the luxury brand car market by creating an Elite On-Water Collection of large luxury yachts.

The boats will be showcased alongside the Heritage Enclosure and Parade Ring and offer what NBS says will be 'a celebration of Super Car tradition'. In addition, boats of all sizes and ranges will be displayed on a purpose built marina in front of the ExCeL building.

Having boats at the BIMS will, says NBS, open up a whole new audience for the boat show, its organisers and exhibitors alike, enabling them to interact with future boating enthusiasts and encourage attendees to get involved in a lifestyle they may not have previously considered.

The biennial event attracted 415,000 visitors in 2006, and show organisers are expecting 550,000 people to attend in 2008.

'This partnership with the organisers of The British International Motor Show, is a great opportunity for the marine industry to showcase itself in an amazing on-water location at a great time of the year,' said NBS MD Andrew Williams. 'It gives us the chance to bring boating at all its many levels, to a whole new audience and it's at a perfect time to promote our Southampton and London shows.'

Support from key members of the marine industry has been extremely positive, he added, and we will be working hard to deliver another outstanding marine showcase in the UK.

'Fairline is very excited about this opportunity at The British International Motor Show in 2008,' said Bryan Jones, marketing manager of Fairline Boats. 'There will be both quality and quantity of visitors and the link with the ultimate car collection is perfect for us.'

Marine exhibitors will have an on-water presence only, meaning there’s no stand to build. NBS will also recreate Try-A-Boat which, along with many additional on-water activities, will add to the style, glamour and excitement of The British International Motor Show, which runs from July 23 to August 3, 2008.
